Jumping

Show jumping has become a very competitive sport in Barbados thanks to the BEA which holds several jumping shows throughout the year. Many of these competitions require internationally trained judges which allows for much exposure for equestrian sport in Barbados.

Throughout the course of the year several foreign trainers are also brought in to give clinics to help with the advancement of not only our riders, but our horses and sport as well. This is proving to be very successful as we have been invited to numerous overseas competitions due to this exposure.

The classes offered at shows usually depend on the type of show being held, however it has become a consistent effort to include classes for the younger and less experienced riders and horses in order to encourage them to continue progressing as well as experience the thrill of competition. As such, the classes offered begin from x-rails for the youngest of riders and continue up to the 3ft5 classes for the more experienced.

We also introduced a Championship Points system this year to encourage healthy competition and also take the stress out of competitions and bring the fun element back into them.
